I've heard it said that gratitude is the highest form of love often represented by the color red. They tell us that gratitude is also valuable for our health and our soul.
This tree reminds me that even if our body and life is gnarled and twisted, there is still beauty. What really shines is the beauty within us, perhaps expressed by our gratitude and love toward others.
This photograph was taken at the Portland, Oregon Japanese Garden. It is processed with enhancing filters.
