Description
Remains of a Catholic church built by the Spanish in 1717 stand in New Mexico. The church has a tumultuous history, then experienced a long decline due to disease, famine and raids.
Over time, the Pecos people dispersed. Every August however, members of the parish in Pecos and neighboring Pueblo of Jemez join at the ruins in a feast day Mass celebration.
The photo is finished in a painterly style and texture.
