Description
My husband and I made a pilgrimage to the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in New Mexico for the Jubilee Year of Mercy.
Each of the four major basilicas in Rome has a holy door, which are normally sealed shut from the inside so that they can't be opened.
For the first time in the history of the Jubilee tradition which started in the 15th century, Pope Francis has allowed for individual dioceses worldwide to open a Holy Door designated by the Diocesan Bishop.
I took this photograph of the Cathedral's devotional candles with the light of mercy shining brightly, a reminder for me that the mercy and love of Jesus will always prevail.
