Description
"Be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect." Matthew 5:48
This is a loaded scripture passage. Jesus said it during his sermon on Mount Olive. He tells us that He is not here to abolish the laws of the Old Testament, but to raise the bar. God wants our obedience, not with just outward gestures and talk, but with interior conversion of our hearts.
For example, if you ask for forgiveness because you have not gone to church for a long time, then the following Sunday you skip church again, that's not what God is asking of you. It's about a conversion of heart!
Likewise, if you think you are a good person because you do not kill anyone, but still you are unforgiving and do not speak to neighbors or family members because of an offense, think again. God is asking that you make the effort to internalize the commandments in your heart.
What lies within our hearts is the most important. Our way to perfection and eternal life lies within our hearts. What will it be for you, more flowers or spiders?
